Try a summer art workshop run by professional teachers who are sensitive to children’s needs, flexible in their teaching practices, and creative in their approaches.
Your child will learn not only how to draw straight and curved lines and shapes, how to sketch circles and squares, and do shades, tones, and coloring but the following life skills and values:
- Think critically when choosing colors, art medium, subject or theme in an art piece.
- Communicate better as they express their emotions and preferences to others through the language of colors and shapes.
- Become independent as they learn to develop fine motor skills (in the case of toddlers and preschoolers) and think through an art project from beginning to end.
- Increase patience and attention span as they wait for a layer of paint to dry up before applying another layer.
- Develop self-esteem and confidence as they experience an art exhibit where their works are appreciated by others.
- Tolerance and appreciation for other people as they learn to appreciate not only their work but others’ art work.
This summer, MindGym Philippines has tapped the talents of two professional teacher-artists to conduct summer art workshops for kids ages 4 to 15 years old.
Equally gifted in the visual arts and with professional teaching licenses, University of the Philippines graduates — Ms. Cathy Lasam and Precious Gamboa have carefully planned out the following art workshops mindful of children’s needs to discover new things, to explore new worlds, and to shine like stars in their own universe of art.
