NOTE: in keeping the session fees low, we will need to ask our teachers to bring their own materials for the art sessions. Please being your own snacks as well. Purified Drinking Water is available for FREE for everyone.

Session 1 — May 5, 9am to 5pm

I. Basic drawing, illustration and composition (9:30 AM-12:30 PM)

  • the elements and principles of design
  • how to draw the human figure with facial expressions
  • how to draw animals, objects and places
  • how to compose your illustrations in an artistic way

Materials to bring:

  • 5 pcs. oslo paper or sketchpad (Suggested brand: Canson)
  • 2pcs. vellum paper or thick white cartolina
  • ordinary pencil or 4B pencil (Suggested brand: Staedtler)
  • eraser (Suggested brand: vinyl or kneaded erasers)
  • technical pens or markers (Suggested brand: Unipin 0.5 pen or Kurecolor markers)

II. Basic coloring using colored pencil, oil pastel, watercolor, posterpaint and acrylic paint (2 to 5pm)

  • color theory and color schemes
  • the different types and brands of wet and dry media and where and when to use them
  • how to select the correct type of brushes and other accessories
  • how to color using different styles and techniques
  • how to choose the most efffecient coloring medium for a specific surface or purpose

Materials to bring:

  • oslo paper 5pcs or sketchpad (Canson)
  • ordinary pencil or 4B pencil (Staedtler)
  • eraser
  • technical pens or markers (Unipin 0.5 pen or Kurecolor markers)
  • at least 1 dry media
  • colored pencil (FaberCastell) or oil pastel (Pentel, Sakura, etc)
  • at least 1 wet media
  • watercolor (PRANG), poster paint (DongA or Sakura), acrylic paint (Maries or Reeves)
  • mixing plate
  • shallow water container
  • chinese or sable brushes for watercolor and posterpaint users
  • nylon brushes for acrylic paint users
  • watercolor paper 9x12inches Canson or Berkley (can be bought at MindGym for Php 7 each)

Session 2 — May 12, 9 am to 5 pm

I. Paper crafts and paper manipulation for classroom decors, bulletin boards, and stage designs (9:30 am to 12:30 nn)

  • elements and principles of design
  • color theory and how to select the correct color scheme for a specific purpose
  • basic modern layout and graphic design
  • different types of layout and its applications
  • the different types of papers, boards, surfaces and their usage and practicality
  • basic origami and paper manipulation
  • how to do 3D paper crafts using complicated-looking pop-ups
  • how to make designs and patterns using paint and paper

Materials to bring:

  • oslo paper 5pcs or sketchpad
  • ordinary pencil or 4B pencil (Staedtler)
  • eraser
  • technical pens or markers (Unipin 0.5 pen or Kurecolor markers) optional
  • construction papers at least 5pcs
  • cartolinas or any specialty papers or boards (optional)
  • colorful or patterned cloth (optional)
  • cellophane or colored translucent sheets (optional)
  • scissors
  • cutter or artknife (Xacto knife)
  • cutting mat or used illustration board
  • ruler
  • compass (optional)
  • glue
  • double adhesive tape
  • scotch tape

II. Making 3D props and costumes using rubberfoam, board, wood, etc. (2 to 5pm)

  • introduction to the different materials used for props and costumes
  • how to make base framework using rattan
  • how to use and manipulate rubber foam
  • different adhering mediums used for different materials and purposes
  • how to decorate and design your props using acrylic paint, spray paint, air brush, glitters and other decorative media

Materials to bring:

  • oslo paper 5pcs or sketchpad
  • ordinary pencil or 4B pencil (Staedtler)
  • eraser
  • technical pens or markers (Unipin 0.5 pen or Kurecolor markers) optional
  • cartolinas or any specialty papers or boards (optional)
  • colorful or patterned cloth (optional)
  • cellophane or colored translucent sheets (optional)
  • scissors
  • cutter or artknife (Xacto knife)
  • cutting mat or used illustration board
  • ruler
  • glue
  • double adhesive tape
  • spray paint (optional)
  • rubber foam (can be bought at MindGym 15php per 1x2ft one color)
  • GRECO 888 cyanoacrylate super glue (80php per bottle for sharing good for 8-10 people)
  • or superglue 25ml (30php)
  • acetone for GRECO removal on skin (optional)
