Room Assignments for September 2011 LET Now Posted Online

Thirteen days to go till September 25.  Too close yet still much time left for finishing some review competencies that needs to be polished.

When you feel like taking a little break from reviewing, why not go to the school where you are supposed to take your LET?  Here’s the online site from PRC which lists room assignments: Elementary and Secondary, by region.  http://www.prc.gov.ph/licensure/?id=26 After downloading, be sure to check your first/middle/last name and your birth date.  If there’s any error, then go and rectify it with the PRC to avoid any hassles on LET day.

Usually, school guards won’t let you inside the room assigned to you.  It’s OK.  What’s important is that you are able to get a feel of the area:  how traffic flows so you’ll know what time allowance you need to make, what food shops are around (in case you don’t want to bring food with you), and parking spaces available (if you are bringing a car).  But, if you are lucky enough and able to charm the school guard to let you take a peek, check the type of table and chair that you will be using and where the comfort rooms are.  If he won’t let you in, at least ask him (if he looks trustworthy) where your room assigned is located and what type of room is it (airconditioned, with electric fan, or natural ventilation).

When going to your school/room assigned, why not go with your review batchmates.  Doing this, you are able to do several things with less time and with a lot more fun.

Final Coaching for September 2011 LET

After over 14 days of intensive coaching in general education, professional education and specialization, MindGym Philippines will conduct a 3-day event this weekend, September 9, 10, 11. It includes a pre-LET day and a  Final Coaching for MindGym LETers and MyReviewCoach online LET review.  Reviewees are required to come much earlier to maximize time on a variety of activities geared towards empowering you TOP the LET.

On Friday: We’ll be simulating the actual LET day to minimize anxieties of taking a national examinations, to refresh and reinforce LET competencies to be tested, and to empower reviewees to reach their goals of becoming licensed teacher before the year ends.

Just like on the LET day itself, reviewees have to come in white, bring all documents, test requirements, and food and drinks as well.  On top of these, a Facebook post requires reviewees to bring: ”Fit mind, healthy body, and ‘Yes, I can!’ spirit”

Saturday and Sunday will be days of personal readiness assessments in all aspects of the LET, of realizations and confidence boosters, and of assurances  that whatever results come out from the September 2011 LET. Reviewees will always have friends to share victories (and trying times with) and their MindGym family to go back to in good and bad times.

This is our reviewees’ chance to be in the company of LET winners:  Erica Montefalcon (Top 1, April 2011), Benedict Barayuga (Top 1, April 2009), Glenn Gilongos (Top 1, 1995), Albert Basa (Top3, April 2009),  Melane Manalo and Nev Ryes (Top 4, April 2010), Noel Carena (Top 7, April 2010), Aicel Alcantara (Top 5, September 2010) and Ericka Villafuerte (September 2009), eight of whom reviewed and currently coach for MindGym Philippines.

Being among topnotchers who care enough to spare their weekends to be with reviewees would surely be a super booster to all, one which jibes with a tenet of the universal “Law of Attraction”.  Education experts from the University of the Philippines like professor Lizamarie Olegario and several special guests will impart tips as well.

MindGym LET alumni, now teachers in their own communities, are also expected to come over to rekindle their friendshps, reminisce times they’ve once been reviewees and pass forward their experiences and hopes to the batch.

Now who’s super ready for the September 2011 LET?

Teachers-to-be: Prepare Early and Pass the April 2011 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET)

The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.

(H. Jackson Brown Jr.)

Success comes to those who prepare early and are able to commit themselves to their life goals.  Starting early gives you time to think ahead about your strategies for success.  What opportunities do you currently face? How do you plan to outbeat others?  What resources do you have at hand? What resources will you be needing?  What are your strengths ?  your weaknesses and limits?

Teachers, aspiring teachers, education graduates and even LET retakers, it’s time to prepare for the April or even the September 2011 licensure NOW. Yesterday, the Professional Regulatory Commission announced that applications for the 2011 LET can already be filed starting today, October 1, 2011.

Here’s PRC’s pronouncement signed by PRC Chairman Nicolas Lapena Jr., quoted verbatim:

The PROFESSIONAL REGULATION COMMISSION announces that the 2011 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) will be held simultaneously in Manila, and other designated regions and cities nationwide on April 3, 2011 and September 25, 2011 .

All qualified applicants may file their applications on the following schedules:

Date of Examination : April 3, 2011
Filing Period : October 1, 2010 – January 28, 2011

Filing/Test Centers:

  1. MANILA
  2. BAGUIO CITY
  3. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY
  4. CEBU CITY
  5. DAVAO CITY
  6. ILOILO CITY
  7. LEGASPI CITY
  8. LUCENA CITY
  9. PAGADIAN CITY
  10. TACLOBAN CITY
  11. TUGUEGARAO CITY
  12. ZAMBOANGA CITY
  13. HONGKONG

Date of Examination : September 25, 2011
Filing Period : April 4, 2011 – June 30, 2011

Filing/Test Centers:

  1. MANILA
  2. BAGUIO CITY
  3. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY
  4. CEBU CITY
  5. DAVAO CITY
  6. ILOILO CITY
  7. LEGASPI CITY
  8. LUCENA CITY
  9. PAGADIAN CITY
  10. TACLOBAN CITY
  11. TUGUEGARAO CITY
  12. ZAMBOANGA CITY

After reading this post, check out if you already have these requirements for the LET.  If you don’t have them yet, access them soonest.  By experience, the first documentary requirement has proven to be the bottle neck for reasons like:  one’s file is missing, name is erroneous, student clearance is pending; records from another school has not been received (for those who studied in different colleges); photo has not been provided by applicant (for scanning); and the need for another Transcript since the notation:  For Board Examination Purposes Only” has been omitted.

  1. Original and photo/xerox copies of Transcript of Records with Special Order and Date of Graduation with SCANNED PICTURES AND WITH REMARKS “FOR BOARD EXAMINATION PURPOSES ONLY”View Res.2004-200..(Graduates of government schools and institutions/programs accredited by recognized accrediting agencies under the FAAP are exempted from SO [B]) . Graduates of New Schools/Degree/Programs must submit School Recognition and/or Permit to Operate.
  2. Original and photo/xerox copy of NSO-issued of Birth Certificate (in NSO security paper; if NSO copy not very clear, bring copy from local civil registrar)
  3. Four (4) passport size colored pictures with complete name tag in white background
  4. Current Community Tax Certificate (Cedula)
  5. Original and photo/xerox copies of NSO-issued Marriage Contract in NSO security paper (for married female only;if NSO copy not very clear, bring copy from local civil registrar)
  6. Other specific requirements as required by the Commission and/or the Professional Regulatory Board.

When you’re done checking the above requirements, take time to really look at yourself and your motives for taking the LET.  Preparing to pass the LET is not easy, particularly with the past three LET’s drastic changes in test items and overall test specifications —  to professionalize teaching.

Remember that passing and even topping the LET may be doable with an average of three months’ study diligence and when you  register early, you free up more time for review.  But, contemplate on the more important thought that  success as a good teacher is a lifetime commitment and pursuit.

Are you ready to take your first step in becoming a good professional teacher?

September 2010 PRC LET (Licensure Examination for Teachers) Room Assignments

It’s ten sleeps to go before the September 26 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET).

By now, teachers-to-be who will be taking the LET are all anxious already about where they will take the LET.  We haven’t heard anyone from our Intensive Coaching for LET who already got his/her test permit from the snail mail.  Thanks to technology, room assignments may now be checked at the site below:

http://www.allvoices.com/s/event-6764505/aHR0cDovL3d3dy5waW5veWJvYXJkcmVzdWx0cy5jby5jYy8yMDEwLzA5L3NlcHRlbWJlci0yMDEwLXJvb20tYXNzaWdubWVudHMtZm9yLWxldC5odG1s

Remember to visit your testing site at least a day before the LET so you know exactly where to proceed on exam day and how to make adjustments to givens like: a very warm or cold room, proximity of the rest rooms, lighting conditions, smell, and noise.

Student Testimonial of MindGym’s LET Review

_MG_0027

Testimonial from Ericka Villafuerte (Top 4, Secondary Level, LET October 2009)

I took the exam last October 2009 and enrolling in MindGym was definitely the best decision I made in preparation for the LET.

The coaching was very thorough, and given that the class was limited to only a few people, we were able to set our own pace for the review. The MindGym coaches were very approachable and took the time to make sure that none of the reviewees were left behind. It also helped that we were free to ask questions or have something repeated for clarification.

Also, the environment was very conducive for learning and not very constricting (as I’ve heard that other review centers fill auditoriums with reviewees to the point that those in the back cannot even hear the lecturers, nor are all the questions entertained).

The drills were very helpful too as it trained us to work under pressure. It also allowed us to keep track of topics we were having difficulty with.

I can honestly say that I would not have been able to pass (and thankfully, top) the LET if not for MindGym!

The First Noel: A MindGym Christmas Party

_MG_0059_

All “firsts” are made for the books and MindGym’s first Christmas Party on 22 December 2009 at La Casa MIA was truly a happy and memorable Christmas gathering.

MindGym coaches relaxed, let loose, and played games with their trainees and tutees. Art students and coach tried their creativity by turning newspapers into angelic garments for kids. Teachers and moms tested their foot writing skills. Memory powers were gauged through the Christmas stocking game.

The MindGym community also joined together in showing off their vocal talents by carolling the La Casa MIA’s owners.

Later, awards of excellence, achievement and appreciation and Christmas tokens from MindGym were given to LET topnotchers and passers, coaches and administrative staff.

Everyone had a festive brunch which lasted till afternoon snacks as coaches and trainees exchanged fun bonding moments! Visit our Flickr album to see more pictures.
